A no fluff Q and A.
Them: My app will help simplify life and help people succeed.
Me: What does that even mean? It is too vague and broad. An app is a solution to a specific problem. Be concrete. Quitting smoking, learning makeup, improving English. Be specific or you will miss the mark.
Them: How much money do I need?
Me: I hear this constantly. There is a starting point, but the total can vary a lot. Think beyond paid media. You also have development work, design, content, specialists, cost per acquisition, taxes, and more. Growth comes with a learning cost. There is a beginning, but no fixed end.
Them: When will I start making money?
Me: Even if you have the right business model, pricing, and a good product, it will still take months. This is not a quick return game.
Them: I want to invest the bare minimum, and only if it works, I will scale.
Me: It does not work like that. Early growth is about learning, not earning. You are testing messaging, fixing app issues, and finding traction. That learning phase is the investment.
Them: How do I know if my idea will work before trying?
Me: You do not. That is why you test. Build a simple web version, send traffic to it, and see if there is a real response. Validate before you scale.
Them: I think the app is amazing, there is nothing like it on the market.
Me: I can probably find hundreds of similar apps in one search. Do your research. Do not fall in love with your product. You are not your target audience.
Them: I did X, and Y did not work.
Me: You probably did not execute it correctly. Try again with someone who knows how to run that strategy or channel properly.
